Dethatching
Only if needed. Before seeding and top dressing the lawn needs to be clear of dead grass, moss or anything that would block seeding and top dressing.
Thatch is a layer of dead and decaying organic matter that builds up between the soil surface and the grass blades.
Why is dethatching important?
- Improved air and water circulation: Thatch can block air and water from reaching the soil, hindering root growth. Dethatching helps improve these vital exchanges.
- Reduced disease and insect problems: Thatch can provide a favorable environment for some diseases and pests.
- Better fertilizer absorption: Dethatching allows fertilizers to reach the soil more effectively.
- Thicker, healthier grass: By removing thatch, you encourage deeper root growth and a healthier, more vigorous lawn.
